Dusty Elam Basketball League Sign-ups
It is that time of year again! It is time for the Dusty Elam Memorial Youth Basketball program. Sign-ups for the program will start on September 4 and will end on October 16. The cost to participate in the program is $55.00 per child; financial aid is available for those that qualify. Recreation Complex members receive a 10% discount on registration. The basketball program is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The first game will be Saturday, November 10. Walk to Washington, D.C.
Go for a walk with us to Washington, D.C. Ok, so we will not actually be walking to Washington, D.C., but we will walk and run the miles it would take to get there, with a shortcut or two. For every one mile walked/ran, participants will be awarded five miles on our map. The program is happening now and will end on November 16. This is a FREE program! So, signup today! Amazing Family Nights
Looking for an opportunity to spend time with your family in a fun and healthy atmosphere? Come to our Amazing Family Nights at the Manchester Recreation Complex. We open the Recreation Complex for free to families from 7:00pm-9:00pm on one Friday night a month. At Amazing Family Night you can learn about improving your health, get your health screened, eat some tasty snacks, swim, use the Youth Wellness room with the indoor playground, walk the indoor track, and play games in the gym. All children must be with an adult to attend.

Let us watch the kids on Friday, October 26. Our October lock-in will be all about Halloween with a themed movie and bonfire in Rotary Park, costume contest, and Halloween inspired treats. The lock-in is for children ages 5 - 12 years old. The drop off time is 7:00 pm with pick-up at 7:00 am. Please, send a costume, swimsuit, and sleeping bag. Children will be fed two snacks during their stay. Please, feed them dinner prior to drop off. The cost is $25.00 per child. We can only accept so many, so register early at the front desk of the recreation center or online at

Manchester Recreation Complex Halloween Hours
The recreation complex will be open from 5:00 am - 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31. The recreation complex will resume normal operating hours on Thursday, November 1 at 5:00 am.

Safe on the Square
Wednesday, October 31 from 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm is the annual Safe on the Square trick-or-treating event! Bring the kids out for a safe way to trick-or-treat on the beautiful downtown Manchester square. Thanks to the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center and local businesses for sponsoring this event.

10% Discount on All Recreation Complex Memberships
The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department is offering a 10% discount on all memberships from November 1 until December 20. Please, visit the front desk of the Manchester Recreation Complex to take advantage of the 10% discount. The 10% discount offer is not valid with any other discounts.

Swim the Caribbean Challenge
Take a swim with us in the Caribbean. From November 12 to December 21, we will be hosting the Swim the Caribbean Challenge. For every one lap that you swim, you will move 10 miles on our map. The total distance to swim is 3,674 miles (368 laps) which equals to 10 laps per day. Come on! You know you can do it! Prizes will be awarded to those who participate. Registration fee is only $10.00

Manchester Recreation Complex Thanksgiving Holiday Hours
The Manchester Recreation Center is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday starting at noon on Wednesday, November 21, and will remain closed until Saturday, November 24. The recreation center will reopen at 7:30 am on Saturday, November 24. We hope everyone has an enjoyable Thanksgiving with family and friends.

City of Manchester Christmas Parade: The Joy of Giving
The City of Manchester’s Christmas parade will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 6:30 pm. Parade line up will start at 5:00 pm. The theme for this year’s parade is The Joy of Giving. Following the parade, there will be a Christmas tree lighting on the square at 7:30 pm. To register an entry for the parade, please contact A.J. Trees of Christmas
The Dig and Dream Garden Club presents The Trees of Christmas with the theme “A Christmas Village.” The Trees of Christmas will take place on the following days at the Ada Wright Building.

Children's After School Program
The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department offers a Children’s After-school Program (C.A.P.) that operates Monday through Friday 3:00pm - 6:00pm through the school year. C.A.P. children will get to use the Recreation Complex and indoor pool, play outside, have a healthy snack daily, and special activities. The department transports children from City Schools to the recreation complex with via bus. This is not a drop in program, children must be registered per week and the cost is $35.00 per week regardless of how many days you attend that week. Children who do not attend Manchester City Schools are welcome to participate but must provide their own transportation to the recreation complex. For more information, call us at 728-0273.

Teen Council
Join the Teen Council of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department.  This group is for teens in the 9th - 12th grade who want to make a difference in their community.  It is a leadership building group that brings teens from diverse backgrounds and interests together to help the Recreation Department put together teen programs and activities.  They also assist the Recreation Department in some of our programs.

Adult and Master Swim Classes
The Adult Master Swim program is for anyone 18 or older who wants to improve their swimming techniques, learn the correct strokes, build swimming endurance, and just hang out with fellow swimmers.  The instructors work with all abilities.

Fee: $5.00 per class

Equipment:  Goggles are recommended and participants are recommended to purchase swim fins, caps, and swim paddles.

Class Time:  Monday/Wednesday at 5:00 pm(for beginners) and 6:00 pm(for advanced swimmers).

Mud, Sweat, and Gears Bike club
Mud, Sweat, and Gears Bike Club is a free bike program held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Manchester Recreation Center from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm.  The program is for 5th grade and middle school age students.  For more information, please contact the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department at (931)728-0273.

Manchester School of Dance
If your child is looking for a fun activity or to learn serious dance techniques, then Manchester School of Dance is where they need to be!  Manchester School of Dance offers a complete program for young dancers through high school age students. We offer a fun and learning experience of creativity.  The dance year is a ten month program, running August through May.  Classes offered are Mommy and Me (Ages 12 months – 2 years old), Beginning Combo (Ages 3 – 5 years old), Level 2 & 3 Combo (Ages 6 – 17 years old), and Jazz Class (Ages 5 – 17 years old).  For additional information, please contact Kalinda Clippard at
