Manchester Parks and Recreation with funds provided by the Manchester Rotary Club, and the Dog Dash organization have built the city's first dog park. The park is open dawn to dusk seven days a week.
Dog owners have long desired a park to take their dogs for an off leash experience in Manchester. The Bark-aroo park is located at 457 McMinnville Highway in the Soccer Park and also has an entrance on the Waite Street side of the park. Play features, and dog drinking fountain, and benches are located in the park. There is a fenced division of the park reserved for small dogs and another for large dogs to keep them separate. Owners should keep their dogs on leash until the reach the dog park common entrance and then take them off leash when the enter either the small dog or large dog area. Dog owners also should keep their leash with them so they can put their dog back on leash. We also caution that because it is an off leash area that small children should not be brought in the large dog area because of danger of getting knocked over from large dogs running and having fun. Also owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and there is a dog waste station in each area.
